Process Journal for composition music assessment
~Oct 8
Today is our first lesson working on our composition assessment. Today, we were given handouts about how to do the assessment. We were given three choices for our composition bars 1-2. We have to use G Major and 4/4 time. We were given 3 choices of the first 2 bars. I didn’t like it so I decided to create my own.

Today after school, I created the first 12 bars of my composition and tried out this and that in magic composer. I couldn’t seem to make anymore.

Today, Mr. Parker came in our computer lab and listened to our lesson. I was sharing my composition to my classmates when he came forward and asked us to let him listen to our compositions. Mine was shorter compared to my other friends, but after Mr. Parker listened to all of our compositions, he just said, “That’s very good, girls, very good.” After a while, Audrey-my friend-told me she didn’t like her composition because track 1 doesn’t match track 2. Mrs. Yuen came and gave us tips on E minor. The tonic of E minor is l, d, and m. The subdominant is v, f and l. The dominant is m, si and t.

Today, I suddenly thought of an idea to finish my composition, I was so into the work that I finished it! I sent to my friend and my friend sent her’s to me. We gave each other feedback and suggestions. I helped her to think of a title because she was struggling to think of one. She suggested me to use a long note at the end. Finally, I added percussion and a long note at the end.
